Just musing...in a safer place than where I am physically for this type of thinking. Interested in thoughts, not looking to offend or argue. I am a Christian. And I cant say I have never questioned my faith. I dont so much question my faith anymore (or what that means to me) as I question other people. I understand that some of my recent experiences will impact my thinking, and I acknowledge that, and given that you all dont necessarily know those, please understand that I have had some eye opening experiences that have given me reason to question people. As a Christian, we believe in a perfect love of Christ. I take that maybe differently than others, I guess. But sometimes, I feel like people use this as a crutch, a way to dissolve themselves of responsibility. As if to say, we should all forgive them because Christ forgives. I think it is easy for us to say that the love we receive is perfect because we can believe it is whatever we want it to be. And belief is powerful, but I also find myself questioning how many of these people are even truly sorry for the things they say Christ is forgiving them for and how much of this is lip service. Sure the love of Christ does not fail, for what we believe in to be true, but for me this is more an abstraction, not that Christ loves me, individually, like a parent/child. I am responsible for my actions and choosing to use Christ as a model/guide. That is on me, the burden of my choices (sin) and forgiveness (repentance) lies with me if I have accepted Christ (and choose to live with that light in me and walk in that light), and I think throwing around Jesus loves me even when I am broken and Christ forgives sometimes becomes a cop out to being a responsible human being. I find that far more of a perversion of scripture and faith than anyone failing to adhere to any rules within our religion to begin with. Just some thoughts.
