Just reviewing results from our athletes last weekend - wow! In one weekend, look at what our athletes accomplish: Sade Smith had a great race at the Crystal City 5k. She finished in 22.32, over a 3 minute PR (25.14) from her last 5k in the fall. Sade placed 1st for 14 under girls and 4th 14 under boys/girls combined. Congrats Sade!! Great day at the Richmond Tri Club Sprint: EF athletes dominated, with age group wins by Drew Olsen, Alex David, Matt Kwarta, Greg Mathe, Jay Markiewicz, Cort Kirkley, and Charlene Wilhelm. Bernie Neighbor, Ashley Gibbs, Mary Anne Williams, and John Clarke also scored podium finishes in the respective categories. Helen and Mike Poole combined for a great relay finish. Great races were had by Courtney Lynch, Allan Ng (4th AG), Eric Glymph, Andy Allen, Brian Lilley, Andrea Bovo, Tim Brown, Ed Olsen, Kristie Olsen, Mark Dupuis, Emily Davis (5th AG), Emily Heyworth, Trish Powell (5th AG), Petra Platzer, Leah Gillespie, and Susan Alexander (4th AG, just seconds from a podium spot). Congrats all and thanks to Jay Peluso, Set Up Events and RTC for a great event! Congratulations to all of the GRAP Tri Team members who raced the Richmond Triathlon Club Sprint today! We had strong finishes by Thomas Franck, Mykl Egan, Mike Asip, Tracy Patterson, Timea Harisova, Pam Henderson, and BG Galang. It was a great weekend of Virginia Triathlon Series racing for EF athletes. In addition to strong showings at the RTC Sprint, EF athletes were out in force at the Angels Race in Lynchburg: EF took BOTH overall titles, with Joseph Anderson and Renee Kunnen posting wins. On the mens side, Blake Williams was 4th overall and Scott Moir was 9th (winning his age group in the process). On the womens side, Lacie Robinson was 5th overall, Kelly Hadiaris was 6th, and Katie Diminick was 10th, with each posting age group wins! Brennon Dunbar (who just missed an AG podium) and John Smith also had solid days. Congratulations guys! A special shout-out to Bernie Neighbor, who did theVirginia Triathlon Series double this weekend, racing the RTC Sprint on Saturday and Angels Race on Sunday! Bernie managed to podium in the Athena category in both races. Way to go, Bernie! Several EF athletes traveled to Florida for the St. Anthonys Triathlon on Sunday. Samone Franzese finished 6th in the very competitive elite amateur division, which included former Olympic medalist Michellie Jones. Angie Poole was part of a solid relay team, and the Woods family (Rob and Karen) combined for another strong relay finish! Nick Woods also had a strong race at St Anthonys in the sprint taking 3rd in his age group! Casey Smith had a great weekend at the Tour of Page County. Despite a crash in the road race (shes OK), Casey recovered to win the field sprint on Saturday. On Sunday, Casey was 4th in the TT (just seconds away from the win), and ended up 5th in the crit (getting away from the group with a strong solo effort). Andy Moser traveled to Albany, NY for USATs race director certification course. On the way up, Andy raced the Bronx Duathlon, winning his age group and finishing 5th overall! Lori Kross (who never shies away from the most challenging running events) raced the Blue Ridge Half Marathon (with its 4000 feet of climbing) over the weekend. Congratulations to Lori on finishing one of the toughest half marathons on the map! Two more great race results this weekend from our EF athletes abroad. Elyse Gallegos and Charles Payne raced the Hammer Sprint Tri in Lenoir City, TN. Elyse dominated the womens field by 10 minutes taking the Womens OA and 12th OA in the race. Charles earned a solid 2nd AG and 19th OA. Strong race for David Reid at Conquer The Hill 4hr MTB race this weekend claiming 2nd place!! Congrats to Shannon Baird who set a PR at the Pikes Peak 10k over the weekend!! Allan Ng ran a Fun 5 Miler this weekend the day after racing the RTC Sprint and crushed it at a blazing 6:43 pace!!
