Just saw Sara dance. If I never see another ballet performance, I will still be eternally satisfied. You must all make it a point to see her dance Balanchine. As you can see in the photo below, she dances with complete abandon Her arabesques come from the heart. And speaking of magical jumps (see my blurb on Technique further down the page) Sara uses the floor and pushes with her feet and all of a sudden she is suspended in the air in pas de chat. Other dancers would do well to do what she does instead of picking up their knees and feet and clunking their pas de chats. As I say in class, theyre dancing with the wrong leg. Also, Sara knows we look at her face and her make up is perfect. She is glamorous. We can see her eyes and lips. She is a perfectionist and dances with extraordinary energy and power from her spine. This is what makes her dancing unique: her body bends in all directions at so many different levels without stopping. Compared to her, we see other dancers simply lifting their arms and legs automatically. Their bodies never breathe or bend. She is truly a great American artist. Balanchine would be proud. She makes the music dance. In our hearts! BRAVO SARA MEARNS!
