Just too too excited about our last day in Paris to start the Paris Travelogue at the beginning. We strolled the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens on our last full day in Paris and wanted to melt into the landscape it was so lovely. The little sail boats, the picnic blankets, square trimmed trees perfectly aligned, bridge foursomes (or some card game) and chess. It was a gentle afternoon and relaxing after a busy busy week. We made our way out of the garden to Saint-Sulpice Church and found ourselves in a most imposing church, second in size only to Notre Dame and one of the oldest churches in France, original building construction in 13th century. Okay. Now, that ought to knock your socks off, but wait. The church has a long history of organists for its magnificent instrument, which was reconstructed in 1862. Gordon took a picture of the list of organists: Widor served from 1870 to 1933 followed by Andre Dupre until 1971. A full century. They still use the organ and the second choir organ is worth drooling over too. Even though we didnt get to hear the organist, Im still humming the Taccata from Widors Symphony. It was a perfect ending to a marvelous trip.
