KABOMPO TEACHER ARRESTED FOR RAPING A 17 YEAR OLD PUPIL AT HIS SCHOOL POLICE in Kabompo have arrested a 33 year old teacher of Kabompo Secondary School who allegedly raped a 17 year old girl of the same school. The man has been identified as Brian Kalala who resides in Antiok compound in Kabompo. North-Western Province commissioner of police Eugene Sibote confirmed in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Tuesday at around 20:00 hours. “What actually happened was that on the material day, this teacher went at the school and sent one of the pupils to go and call the girl who was studying in class with others that he wanted to talk to her and the girl complied with the call and went to see him,” he said. Mr Sibote said the teacher allegedly took the girl to his house where he had carnal knowledge of her. He said after the act, the girl was escorted back at school whilst crying and revealed what had transpired to her colleagues after she was asked to explain what the problem was. Mr Sibote said the matter was reported to police by friends and Kalala was apprehended and charged with the offence of rape. He said the girl was taken to the hospital for examination where it was discovered that the she had sustained bruises on her private parts which confirmed the evidence of rape. He said Kalala is currently in police custody and will appear in court soon. Mr Sibote warned people in positions of authority such as teachers who are entrusted with the responsibility to look after the welfare of pupils in schools to stop taking advantage of vulnerable girls to abuse them. He said police shall use all legal means possible to ensure that people with evil intentions of abusing young girls are brought to book and urged school girls not to hesitate to report to the police such characters. “Let the girls also be reporting to us so that these evil minded persons can be taken out of society and go where they belong,” Mr Sibote said.
