A or B? So you have a very talented and passionate son. Your Local options do not allow for your son to play on a team his age because he is that much better than the players in his age group. A. Travel and Join a team that has players of the same caliber B. Play up in age in the local area Is there a difference here? I would say A is by far the best option due to the social development of a player playing up in age. They should be with their same class and compete against the best kids at that age group. If he is in the top percentage group Nationally he will have to join a program that offers Regional Opportunities to compete and deveolp. B. This is another options that I see alot and better than playing in his same age group where he would be held back. Issue is the social difference in mental development and exposure to older kids. Also, example is if an 8U player is playing on a 10U AA team , the players profiles are different and he will learn poor habits and approach that typically is not visible on a major level team. There is a huge difference in playing AA, AAA and players should play within their grade in closet age possible. Example would be that 8U player would be better playing at 9U Major level versus 10U AA level. Thoughts?
