@KWARAGOVT APPROVES PAYMENT OF 130% SIGN-ON FEES FOR KWARA UNITED The Kwara State Government has approved the payment of sign-on fees of the players of the state-owned Nigeria National league side, Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin. The State governor, ALHAJI ABDULFATAH AHMED approved the payment of the players’ 2013/2014 sign-on fee as well as the 30 percent outstanding sign-on fees for 2012/2013 season. The state Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Prince Saheed Popoola who disclosed this yesterday, said the government commitment to the club informed the approval by the governor. Prince Popoola said GOVERNOR AHMED is fully committed to the welfare of the team and sports generally in the state and charged the players and management of the team to reciprocate gesture by working towards gaining promotion to the Premier League at the end of the current football season. The general manager of the club, Alhaji Haruna Maigidasanma, while commenting on the development said the governor has proven his love for sports by being the first governor to pay a hundred percent sign-on on fee in the country. He said the payment had come at a right time for the team which is currently on the second position on the log of group A of the Nigeria National League.
