Kaspa & I have got into a habit of wandering around our garden - TopicsExpress

Kaspa & I have got into a habit of wandering around our garden before breakfast. We amble round slowly - sipping our tea and lingering over the Mediterranean blue bobbles of muscari or pausing to watch the robin as he perch-wobbles on the washing line. We make a note of things-to-be-done - this corner has been overtaken by prickly brambles, this geranium needs re-potting, this hedge needs a trim. We appreciate what has changed - some new growth on the expensive dark purple Echinacea I thought Id killed, a new seed sprouting with a tiny loop of a hairy stem appearing above the compost in the many pots in the greenhouse. I would like to live the whole of my life more like this. Taking things at a gentle pace, not rushing, paying attention to what is in front of me. Noticing what needs to be done and feeling a hunger to do it, without getting overwhelmed. Feeling grateful for the beauty that is ever-changing, infinitely complex, surprising. The beauty that is not earned, but offered freely to us by the garden centres, the clients who pay my living (and seed) expenses, the earth, the rain, the sun. How could you apply these three attitudes to your day today? To your life? What will you do differently? * Do share this with anyone who needs to read it today. Robin by Helen Haden via Flickr with gratitude. *
