Kia Ora, OK... So if Ive added you and you dont already know then... A couple weeks ago my māmā was diagnosed with cancer in her neck. Since then, weve been to WLG to have a CT and a PET Scan... From that they found the cancer in the back of her throat. And no where else in her body. After that we had numerous meetings and appointments with doctors and there are many more to come. Mums treatment will consist of about 3 months of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. But before we get there, there are also other procedures that had to take place before we get to that step. Before starting the treatment mum has had to undergo surgery to get all her teeth pulled out and a peg tube put in to her tummy to feed her while she is going through radiotherapy. And this was the operation that happened today. Mum got out at 3.30pm today and we got to see her about 6.15pm this evening. At 6.30 we moved her to ward 27. Shes in a lot of pain but has been drugged up with paracetamol and morphine to ease the discomfort. During my limited time with her up there we got her changed of the hospital gown, and freshened up, then her favourite Son Inlaw came Back with a strawberry Milkshake from maccaz, potato n gravy from KFC and UP&GOs for her, so she was happy and looking fitter by the hour. Shes still a little drowsy, tired and groggy but she will be okay and we will all soldier on together. Thank you all for the unconditional love and support, and for those of you who havent been in the loop, we are sorry, everything is Just moving so fast and this is just another stepping stone we are hoping to conquer! My mum, my brothers, our darlings and I are all so greatfull for all that our whānau do for us and especially all our other māmās, and pāpās who continue to love and nurture us through this haerenga. We are so lucky to have awesome, hard working and lovig role models who help mould us to become who we are today. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much! x
