Kiama Christians Pray for Peace A group of concerned Christians - TopicsExpress

Kiama Christians Pray for Peace A group of concerned Christians gathered at the front of the Chambers of Kiama Municipal Council at 11.00 am on September 11th to pray for peace in our world. Members of the Uniting, Catholic and Anglican congregations of Kiama, Jamberoo and Gerringong joined together and were led by Rev. Robert Buchan [UCA] in song and prayer. Rev. Buchan spoke of the need to replace hate with love by relating the story of his uncle, who in the light of losing a daughter, a son and a daughter in law to the Bali bombing, forgave the terrorists saying people brought up to hate do hateful things and healing can only occur with love. The group prayed specifically for peace in war ravaged parts of the world but also prayed for peace in our own community where violence is still an issue. The group prayed for Christians suffering persecution in Iraq and other parts of the Middle East as well as praying for Muslims in Australia who suffer because of the actions of Muslim extremists in other parts of the world. This event will be followed on Sunday 21st September [the United Nations International Day of Peace] by a Peace pilgrimage through Kiama and involving all the churches ending up at the Blow Hole where they will again pray for peace. This pilgrimage will begin at the Catholic Church in Manning Street at 11.00am. For further details contact Rev. Robert Buchan on 42633355 or any of the local Christian churches.
