Kulgam, Ganderbal, Budgam colleges win matches KU Inter-College Cricket Tourney Rouf banday reports Srinagar, Aug 9: On the second day of the inter-college cricket tournament, three matches were played at Kashmir University grounds here on Saturday. The first match was played between Degree College Kulgam and Degree College Khansahib, which the former won by 116 runs. Batting first DC Kulgam scored 242 for the loss of three wickets in allotted 20 overs. Adil Fayaz scored unbeaten 126 runs in 54 balls and Nadeem scored 64 runs. For Khansahib, Shafi and Aslam took one wicket each. In reply Khansahib managed to score just 114 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted quota of overs. Shafiq scored 21 for them while as Nadeem and Nawaz took 3 and 2 wicket respectively for Kulgam. The second match was played between Degree College Baramullah and Degree College Ganderbal. Baramulla won the toss and elected to field first. Batting first Ganderbal scored 127 in 20 overs. Rafiq and Saddam scored 24 and 23 runs respectively. For Baramulla Shahid took 4 wickets. In reply Baramulla were bundled out on for 64 runs only. For Ganderbal Nisar took four wickets. Ganderbal won the match by 63 runs. In another match of the day Degree College Budgam defeated Degree College Sopore by 2 wickets. Meanwhile the inter-college badminton tournament men also kicked off at Women’s College Nawakadal today, in which about 34 colleges are participating. In the matches played on the first day, Gandhi College, Degree College Bijbehara and Govt Medical College emerged victorious.
