LINCS POLICE ALERT Message sent by Lynn Chantrey (Police, Police Support Volunteer, NC07 Nettleham) There is a growing problem in all areas of people parking inappropriately when dropping off or picking up children from school, if you are a parent or guardian who drops children off please give consideration to others when parking your vehicle. DO NOT park in bus lanes/stops, on double yellow lines, obstructing driveways or in any position to cause a hazard to any other road user or pedestrian. Some villages have started to use a walk to school scheme where parents take it in turns to walk a group of children to school and back using a village hall or other meeting point, parents or guardians can then park easily and safely to drop off and pick up children, everyone wears a hi-viz tabard for maximum visibility and the children think it is great fun, so if you think you are in an area that would benefit from a scheme like this, get together with similar minded parents and set one up, these schemes greatly reduce the parking problem and bring children together as a group, to make it more fun you could even give your group a nickname such as Walking Wonders or Hi-viz hikers, why not give it a try. If you do decide to give it a go, let us know how it is going on Facebook or Twitter, this could then make someone else decide that it is worth giving it a try.
