LOVERS OF TECH... SURE TO APPRECIATE TESLAS BIG NEWS! AT YESTERDAYS MEDIA EVENT... Tesla CEO Elon Musk invited members of the media to ride in Teslas AWD Model S 85D, an UPDATED Version of its Model S. EVEN GREATER STABILITY: The thing that makes this AWD better than other vehicles AWD is this systems dynamic shift of power from front to rear is at the millisecond level. Thus, achieving more stability and better road holding. A BIT MORE RANGE: While AWD systems on most any vehicles will generally reduce gas mileage... Tesla’s system improves efficiency. According to Tesla, the Model S 85D version has 295 miles of range at 65 mph, compared to 261 miles for the ordinary S. EVEN FASTER: The most powerful P85D version can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Top speed is 155 mph. “It’s like taking off from a carrier deck…like having your own personal rollercoaster,” said Musk. AUTOPILOT FEATURES: Additional features include more sensors, radar, additional cameras, and ultrasonic sonar... all integrated with GPS navigation and real-time traffic information. These new features will allow this car to steer back into its lane if it drifts out, and brake if it detects an impending collision. The autopilot camera can see posted speed limit signs on the side of the road and automatically adjust speed to comply with posted limits. It will also warn drivers when they exceed the prevailing speed limit, and automatically change lanes when the turn signal is activated. Deliveries of the P85D will start in December, with the 60D and 85D to follow in February. TALK ABOUT FUN: When you watch the video, note the Tesla driver suggests passengers may want to press their head back against the headrest BEFORE he launches the car from zero to 60 in less than 4 seconds.
