[Political News] -2015: Elections must hold in North-East, PDP insists The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday maintained that crisis rocking the North-East region would not impeded the conduct of the forthcoming general elections as insinuated from some quarters of the public. The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh who made the position of the Party known while speaking on a live Radio programme monitored by People’s Daily in Abuja yesterday, insisted that there was no reason why elections would not be held in such areas as being agitated in some quarters. Metuh who opined that the people are unnecessarily crying wolves’ when there was none. Metuh blamed the state governors manning the affairs of the affected states for complacency over the breakdown of law by the insurgents in the area, due to their failure to live up to their people’s expectations. “If the State Governors in the affected states have been alive to their responsibilities as being done by the PDP controlled Federal Government, the situation would have been brought under control, rather they are busy attacking the President and our Party as responsible for the insecurity and that elections will not hold in the affected states, elections must hold and PDP will spring surprises “, he declared.
