Labor Day 2014. Im especially grateful for my co-workers, past and present, as I think about work and what it means to me. I suspect for many of us they are one of the main reasons we appreciate our jobs. Im also grateful for the lessons Ive learned through the years from the people who supervised me and were my bosses. My first boss was Ed White ( Suzannes dad), circulation manager for the Charlotte News. I had an afternoon newspaper route for 3 years while growing up. Ed White was patient, kind and treated everyone with respect. He did something Ill never forget...one early morning around 1969 he drove several other carriers and me to Raleigh to tour the capitol and meet the Governor. Unfortunately, the Governor did not show but It was my first trip to our state capitol and sparked my interest in state government. Thanks, Ed White!
