Lasantha Wickrematunge was killed 6 years ago. His killers are still at large. Many others have died before and since, and all for speaking out against things they thought were wrong, unjust and/or simply un-SriLankan. Lasanthas death is symbolic of the present era: free of war but also of free speech; free of terrorists, but not of the potential to be terrorized. Groundviews just released a set of photo-essays in honor of Lasantha, and Im humbled to have been able to contribute my voice to the same. My sincere thanks first of all to Almighty God and then to the close friends who helped me out in the execution of an assignment I certainly found very challenging. So whether you patiently posed as I tried to get a shot right in less-than comfortable circumstances, did a bit of photoshop work for me that I didnt know how to, lent me some equipment, helped me with a shoot, got me access to a location or just listened to my ideas with a patient ear and gave me feedback I sincerely appreciate every bit of your efforts.
