Last night, after possibly the best days conference shooting weve done, both my pro cameras were stolen from the venue as I was packing up. Along with my two most-used lenses. Cost: over seven grand. I had a bit of a think - half way through a big job, with a busy diary; no point in making a drama of it, or rattling clients. Im insured for this; its a risk of the job; Ill learn a few things from it. Tracy was a star helping to get venue security to scour the CCTV, but no luck. An hour after the theft, police statement done, and we were back at work - with me doing the on-site edit to get another set together. The show must go on. Then Janet was amazing in meeting me at stupid oclock to lend me a proper camera and lens for today. But I had another idea too: why not use it as a bit of a kick to see if I could get by at an event just using my little G15 compact? The one I sometimes throw in the bag as a reserve. All £270-worth of it. No fancy lenses. Small sensor, not so good for low-light. Bring it on!
