Last night whilst going through the Abbas El-Akkad street, there was a power shortage, so the whole street was dark, save for a few outlets. The road was wet with overflowing sewage water. Slippery, difficult and uncomfortable to walk on. Cars didnt slow down though. Typical Cairo. Sitting in a microbus, I kept hearing complaints about the hike in gas price and bus fares from the passengers. The bane of the poor.
