Last week... Me: No visitors until you clean up your rooms, get your dirty clothing off the floor and into the washer, clean the bath after yourself etc, go to college when you should and pull your weight... such as help put the shopping away. Next day - Kids, (18 and 19 years old): Can X Y and Z visit? Me: No, see above Next day - Kids, (18 and 19 years old): Can X Y and Z visit? Me: No, see above Next day - Kids: Can X Y and Z visit? Me: No. You have still done absolutely nothing. Your dirty clothes are all over the floor. Your dishes are dumped all over the house. You wont even use the dishwasher or wipe the bath out after yourselves. There are just 5 bags waiting out of a total of £160 worth of shopping waiting to be put away. Ive done all the rest. Is it really so hard to help? Next day - me: Please put those five bags of shopping away Next day - Kids: Well put it away later. Can X Y and Z visit? Me: No. Please dont ask again. Tonight: DD1 text at 10.30pm on way home from cinema, Can Adam come in for a cuppa? Me, text reply at 10.30pm: No. DD1 brings Adam in. I tell Adam Im sorry but due to disrespectful kids he must leave. I look at the five bags of shopping are STILL waiting to be put away. Newsflash kids! You will NOT bring other people into my house until you respect it AND me. I WILL embarrass you if you try to put me on the spot again. You will NOT win.
