Last week, a group of protesters in Furgeson Missouri started a march from Furgeson to Jefferson in response to the grand jury decision concerning the Mike Brown case. They wanted to go to the state capital to express their concerns about the handling of the case. The trip was 140 miles and they planned to march 20 miles a day. Along the way, they went through a small town called Rosebud. There, they met with counter-protesters. The counter-protesters werent as peaceful and kind to them. The article I read said the counter protesters yelled racial epithets at them. My first thought was, what did they call them? Redskins? (see what I did there, brought in another argument from a totally different subject, that has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand). No, they called them niggers. Now, I know Im supposed to say the N-word instead of nigger, but lets be real, we all know they werent out there yelling Go home N-word. They were saying go home niggers. Some of the protesters had their kids with them, as well as some of the counter-protesters. In an effort to stop the march, some counter-protesters laid out fried chicken, watermelon and a 40oz. Sounds like something from The Onion. Now, to my white friends out there, and I have many, I know some of you are vegetarians and fried chicken may not be that appealing to you, but cmon watermelon? Youre going to tell me you dont like watermelon. You try to tell me you dont like watermelon and I may have to unfriend you. Now the 40oz, what can I say? What brotha doesnt like a good 40oz? That shits like liquid crack. Also, the back window of the bus following the protesters, that they used to rest during the march, was shot out. Nothing says Im a peaceful, law abiding American citizen who believe in the right of free speech like shooting out the windows of a bus helping those who happen to have a different opinion than your own.
