Lately on the newspaper the Minister for Agriculture and Life Stock, Hon. Tommy Tomscol announced that quarantine measures will put in place to control the sale of betelnut to prevent the spread of Markham diseaes...I applaud the minister for his initiative but my question.... Has the minister done a research to find out all the root causes?; has all the why? Questions been answered and the main root cause been identified? I believe, the markham disease has nothing to do with the green nuts but to do with the plant... I call on the minister to do a research and present his findings to justify the spread of this disease as it would be a major blow to the livelihood of the bulk salers of the people of middle ramu and other parts of the country.
