Lately we are seeing numerous posts about the flashbang that was thrown during a breach and unintentionally burned a toddler. Many are quick to judge. Some post things to push their own agenda of anti police and government. I want to take a moment to say how much I appreciate the Habersham County Sheriffs Office. Thank you to our Sheriff Joey Terrell and the officers that dedicate their lives to service of our county. They spend countless hours working to keep this county safe giving up much of their personal lives for the betterment of the community. These officers go out daily and nightly stopping crime , drug traffickers, dealers and people whose intent is to do harm to others. While doing this they answer calls for service from you and I as well. I would say there are very few of us that havent had to call on them at one time or another. That tree branch in the road on a rainy night? We could stop and remove it but then we would get wet. Thats below us, call an officer to do it. He has nothing better to do right? In this case these officers from multiple jurisdictions joined together for this call. There were variables as there always is with any call. If you have never went through a door on a bad call then you have no idea the turmoil that goes through a persons mind. The natural reaction is to avoid danger not run toward it. Speed and surprise may be your only benefit that keeps you alive for any particular call. If you dont know the events that unfolded listen to the sheriffs interview. He is doing more to inform the public than most. Rarely do you see someone give such an informative statement to the press. Before you criticize anyone , think about the times you have had to call or when u may need to in the future. Regardless of how you feel about them or how you ridicule them when you call 911, they are still rolling your way. They dont do it for the money. Its a calling. Its something that you just have in you that keeps you going. They are fathers and mothers , sons and daughters. They are veterans of wars and Sunday school teachers. They are coaches and students. So as you read the articles and the negative comments just remember that at one point in your life they were there for you as well. I have the privilege of living in one county and working in another so this goes out to both. Thank you to our Sheriffs Office in habersham and rabun county. Thank you for your service and instead of criticizing things you do we will pray for you and your safety as you do things that many of us fear. May you always come home when the watch is over and may you leave the horrors and troubles of the day written on the log sheet instead of the recesses of your mind. And of course there are those that will always hate. So for you, next time someone is trying to hurt you and you dont trust your local officers to get the job done, call that thug that you support or the guy that posts how he would do it better. Im sure they will get out of bed and come to your Aid in a timely manner. Life is too short! Live and Love Life! God Bless and Rock on!
