Lauren Hendricks, a many-semestered veteran of Big Thompson Nation, scored a major kudo for her work on the Gonzofest event last weekend honoring another Thompson, Louisville native and famed writer Hunter S. Thompson. Lauren is a “marketing maven” for Alexander + Hughes public relations and marketing. Poet Ron Whitehead, a former University of Louisville student, friend to Mr. Thompson and possessor of his own Wikipedia article, complimented Lauren on her media relations, marketing and social media work devoted to the festival with this post: “THANK YOU LAUREN!!!!!!! I tried, and failed, for 20 years!!! This wouldnt have happened without YOU & our entire INCREDIBLE Production Team!!!! “ (No one said you had to have good grammar to be a poet). A long-delayed building sign honoring Thompson’s home-town status will be gracing the Highlands’ Bristol Bar and Grill, blocks from where Thompson grew up.
