Laurie Snow Turner, LDS Public Affairs director for the Washington - TopicsExpress

Laurie Snow Turner, LDS Public Affairs director for the Washington DC area, has a piece in the Deseret News today about the “Day to Serve,” a large-scale service event started by the church in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. More than 1,300 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington, D.C., area, including over 400 full-time missionaries and many of their investigators, attended a Washington Nationals baseball game to kick off the service event, including Elder Jack Gerard (area Seventy), West Virginia representative Waylon Bryant, Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia, representative Paul Reagan, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, representative Mark Byrd, DC mayor representative Jeffrey Richardson, and LDS public affairs directors Laurie Turner and Anne Golightly. It makes me really happy to see things like this happening, especially reaching outside of our own church boundaries to do service with others not of our faith for no other reason other than trying to help others. deseretnews/article/865608555/DC-members-kick-off-Day-to-Serve-2014-with-the-Nats.html?pg=all
