Leander Mendoza will be performing in our upcoming Dream Come True Concert on October 18th, a night of entertainment dedicated to all OFW in NS. Ticket $25 inclusive of food/entertainment/dance (Drinks will be sold at the venue). Leander, is a Tenor who was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. After completing his early vocal training at the University of Santo Tomas, he came to Ontario in 1995 to pursue advance studies with COC soprano Eleanor Calbes, where he became established on the concert and musical theatre scenes, as well as a voice teacher. Among his stage credits are Lun Tha (King & I), Tateh (Ragtime), Engineer (Miss Saigon) & Che (Evita). Three years ago he settled in Halifax, where he has established a successful vocal studio and carries on an active career in concerts, film and television. He has given concerts for the Filipino Association of Nova Scotia with jazz/R&B singer Nadia Moore, and continues to offer his talents to the Nova Scotia community. In November 2013, Leander was one of the cast members of “Come to Us Emmanuel-The Advent Show”, at St. Agnes Church Auditorium, which raised funds in support of ARK Outreach and St. Mary’s Basilica’s Daily Bread Outreach. Last March, Leander performed for Opera Nova Scotia’s Informoperal of Fench opera-comique where the audience responded warmly to his persuasive interpretation of the poet Wilhelm Meister in Thomas’s Mignon. In February 2015, Leander will be singing in a one night only performance with ONS’s “Opera Valentine Concert” at the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre. Aside from performing in HRM, Leander continues to give concerts in Ontario, as well as in Miramichi, New Brunswick, where he has performed four times to date. He currently sings as tenor soloist at St. Andrews United Church in Halifax. In 2010, Leander released his first CD entitled, “In the Moment-The Broadway Album”, which will be available for sale after the evening’s performance.
