Left - The circa 1840s Anderson House on Old US 41, which once was a stagecoach stop and which survived the Civil War even though everything else in nearby Acworth was burned by Sherman. Photo was taken in late 1940s by Wilbur Kurtz. At right, the house as it looked in September, just before Cobb County bulldozed it to make way for drivers license facility. If the house had been on private property, instead of county property, the property owner would have been required to do an expensive historical/archeological analysis. But the county plays by its own rules.
