Let me start out by saying this road trip was not my proudest - TopicsExpress

Let me start out by saying this road trip was not my proudest hour. October 4, 1975. Clemson vs Georgia. Between the hedges. My Senior year. I will be perfectly honest, Im a little fuzzy on the details of this trip. Im pretty sure that Mr. Daniels stayed at home; but I think I spent the weekend with Mr. Collins and Bud. My Cope Hall crew was as close as ANY group has ever been on the Clemson campus; but one thing we had never done was take a football weekend road trip together. Im not even positive who went on this trip. I know Lynn and Vanessa went and I feel like Annie Boo and Melissa rounded out the crew. We headed to Athens and hooked up with some of the old Laurens, SC gang. Tuck, Ervin, (both of them were Georgia fans) and Jim Coleman were there for sure; but I just dont remember who else. Clemson lost and it wasnt pretty 35 - 7. After the game 12 -14 of us went out to dinner. Now dont judge. We went to the Holiday Inn. Remember this was almost forty years ago and there wasnt an Outback in every town or an Applebees on every corner. The hostess set up a long table that ran parallel to another long table where a crowd of 15 - 20 Clemson alumni were also having dinner. It was a group of retired men; all wearing Iptay Jackets. Their ties were still in place. They were the picture of respectability. Then there was us. They said grace and then all stood up and sang in perfect four part harmony the Clemson Alma Mater. You could tell that this was a long standing tradition, that they loved Clemson and they loved each other. Just as they reached the last words ore the mountain height Tuck jumped up, dropped his drawers, and mooned them. I was just like them. . . I never saw it coming. However; I did see the manager coming and he escorted us right out of the building. Tuck is in heaven right now, trying to figure out how to moon all the tigers that will be in Athens tomorrow. Tomorrow, I will be glued to the tube, with a large Mickey D sweet tea, pulling for my tigers. Hope all those making their first, three hundredth, or last road trip with the Tigers make memories that will last forever. Xoxo. Go TIGERS. BEAT the DAWGS.
