Lets discuss the Elephant in the room regarding local sports. Some people here are fans of both the Raiders and the Golden State Warriors. Those people can understand and agree with the concept of a conspiracy theory regarding the NFLs animus against the Raiders. They feel that its highly unlikely that the Raiders for years and years received every possible penalty imaginable with help from the NFL and its officials and they have tons of visual proof to back up said feelings. With respect to the Warriors, they see their team get virtually every conceivable accommodation on calls and the most favorable schedule anyone has received since the Boston days of the 60s. My question is when you look at the juxtaposition of the two situations, how can one wholeheartedly agree with one and disagree as to the other. In other words, if its conceivable that one sport can conspire to create a disadvantage to the Raiders, how can it be inconceivable that the other sport cannot in favor of the Warriors? Its even more interesting that the incentive to punish the Raiders center around a beef with the owner of the team and doesnt appear to involve any financial benefit to the league whereas the incentive to assist the Warriors clearly would be the financial benefit of the league in sales, TV revenues and marketing. One would think the latter scenario would be more believable. Im of the opinion that what one believes is directly correlated with its teams interest. In other words, if you like the Warriors, you dismiss any conspiracy theory and dont really care why youre winning, just glad you are. That would bring up some integrity and character issues but that another story for another day. Carry on.
