Letter to 5th grade parents from the desk of Mr. Sanchez- Intermediate Principal. 25th Annual 5th Grade Educational Field Day at Belding Farms November 7, 2014 Sponsored by Belding Farms, The Trans-Pecos Soil & Water Conservation District #231, USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service The Texas Agrilife Extension Service Every year 5th grade students are exposed to the process used to harvest pecans. They learn about soils and erosion, identifying indigenous plants, ground water pollution, irrigation, tree harvesting, and pecan processing and cleaning. This will be a life learning experience. Students will be allowed to wear shorts, jeans, comfortable shoes (no sandals of any type) and t-shirts. The weather forecasts a high of 66 for this Friday I recommend that students dress in layers. The students will be getting wet at the irrigation station please let us know if you do not want your child getting wet. I recommend caps or hats and sunscreen for those that are sensitive to the sun. I ask that your child not bring any electronic devices with them. Teachers will have cell phones in case there is an emergency and parents need to be contacted. Lunch will consist of hot dogs, chips, cookies, and a drink served by the Trans-Pecos SWCD Directors. If your child is not able to eat any of these foods please send a lunch with them. If you would like to attend with your son/daughter or have questions please contact the school at 336-4141. Thank you Omar Sanchez Intermediate School Principal
