Letter to my Black friends and family: So i woke up this - TopicsExpress

Letter to my Black friends and family: So i woke up this morning, turned on my tv and saw two reports about this Ebola scourge. The first report was about the Spanish aide worker, who just a few days ago was so critical, that she was on the verge of dying, and, her husband who was quaratined. The couple were now testing negative for the Ebola viruse. The second report dealt with a letter written by the Liberarian president, addressing the Ebola situation in her country. I couldn´t help but start noticing that things are not right, why is it that 99,99% of those dying are of African descent, why is it that these things are always for some reason suddenly popping up in Africa and when you do a simple research on African stories and myths you find no mention of any such diseases appearing anywhere. Why is it that African nations in this day and age, still have to turn to outside help to manage its catastrophes. Why is it that African nations that are rich in natural assets, allows foreign nations and businesses to rape their wealth without doing or getting anything in hindfold for their populations. Why is it that we are not training a battery of researchers and scientist, that looks like us, and who may have our best interest at heart. Why can other cultures come to that realisation and educate their population thereafter and we can´t. Why do we seem to encourage our kids to seek sports and music as the only way out, when there are other more rewarding avenues available to them and us. Why is it, that i am reading FB messages from friends and familiy members insisting that Ebola is a sign from god and that the end of time is near, and then they go into these long winded prayers of praise to god. Why is it that we are praising a god that will afflict the already poor and needy in this manner, if he wanted to send a sign or warning as some fool wrote me, why not wipe out half of America or Europe or some other sinful nation to get his point across. Somebody wrote that god is using Africa as an example, why, there are more Christians and Roman Catholics on the contintent of Africa than there is in Europe or America. Why doesn´t god wipe out India, they have gods, not the one GOD. Why not Ebolarize I.S.I.S, they are not christians as a matter of they are killing christians in the Middle East. Why doesn´t he take out Asia, the most are Buddhist or Taoist in Asia. When will we stop looking for answers in the skies and turn our heads to the street level, where we are dying like flies from one affliction or the other. When will we stop listening to (1)politicians who promise us good living and wealth if we vote them in to power, (2) pastors and priests who promises us good living in paradise when we die. Neither of these have delivered, but us black people, we hold on to the politicians and the pastors like a drowning man clutching at straws. When will we create our own investment funds, technology centers and tech conglomerates, movie houses and productions, our own neighborhoods, stores and boutiques, fashion power houses, magazines, television and radio stations. The list can be made long, but at the end of the day we as a people need to show strength, unity and resolution in order to compete with everyone else. Stop blaming others, and start looking amongst ourselves to sort out our own bad apples. We need to start questioning what science project and medicines are being introduced into our communities. We must instill in our youths, pride in themselves and their ancestors, stop indoctrinating them in the christian-judeo bible, and the key word there is indoctrinating, not to stop reading it. Anyone that disagrees with what i have written is free to disagree, but your disagreement does not change nor alter the facts on the ground. And please feel free to remove me from your friends list, if you keep insisting that Ebola is a sign from God, i wouldn´t want to be a friend with anyone who has such a friend. As a matter of fact, with friends like these, who needs enemies. Some words from Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleafs letter.Liberia is now faced by an enemy we dont know.We have lost over 2,000 Liberians. Some are children struck down in the prime of their youth. Some were fathers, mothers, brothers or best friends. Many were brave health workers that risked their lives to save others, or simply offer victims comfort in their final moments. There is no coincidence Ebola has taken hold in three fragile states – Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea – all battling to overcome the effects of interconnected wars. In Liberia, our civil war ended only eleven years ago. It destroyed our public infrastructure, crushed our economy and led to an exodus of educated professionals. A country that had some 3,000 qualified doctors at the start of the war was dependent by its end on barely three dozen. In the last few years, Liberia was bouncing back. We realized there was a long way to go, but the future was looking bright. Now Ebola threatens to erase that hard work. Our economy was set to be larger and stronger this year, offering more jobs to Liberians and raising living standards. Ebola is not just a health crisis – across West Africa, a generation of young people risk being lost to an economic catastrophe as harvests are missed, markets are shut and borders are closed. The virus has been able to spread so rapidly because of the insufficient strength of the emergency, medical and military services that remain under-resourced and without the preparedness to confront such a challenge. This would have been the case whether the confrontation was with Ebola, another infectious disease, or a natural disaster.
