Life Connections Counseling Don McPherson, Ed.D Licensed Professional Counselor, MSE Spiritual & Mental Health development through examining belief systems about self, others and God. We are a product of our thinking. Or as King Solomon once wrote As you think in your heart so are you. I am an Epistemologist by vocation. e·pis·te·mol·o·gy iˌpistəˈmäləjē/ noun PHILOSOPHY the theory of knowledge, especially with regard to its methods, validity, and scope. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion. Epistemology (i/ɨˌpɪstɨˈmɒlədʒi/ from Greek ἐπιστήμη, epistēmē, meaning knowledge, understanding, and λόγος, logos, meaning study of) is the branch of philosophy concerned with the nature and scope of knowledge[1][2] and is also referred to as theory of knowledge. It questions what knowledge is and how it can be acquired, and the extent to which knowledge pertinent to any given subject or entity can be acquired. Much of the debate in this field has focused on the philosophical analysis of the nature of knowledge and how it relates to connected notions such as truth, belief, and justification. The term epistemology was introduced by the Scottish philosopher James Frederick Ferrier (1808–1864). The thoughts of your mind have made you who you are and who you will be from this day forward. Catherine Ponder Lets think about our thinking. Im a cognitive behavioral therapist by profession, who constantly examines how our thinking is at the heart of our feelings and our behaviors. I am a follower of M. Scott Peck (THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED) philosophically and a follower of Jesus the Messiah spiritually. Dr. Peck says that healthy thinking is difficult, complex and an on-going process. (See his book BEYOND THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED: youtu.be/ci65hl5F1ik Religiously opposed to organized religion, I trust in no man-made religions or denominations and differentiate between knowing God through faith by relationship instead of through religious indoctrination. Jesus taught that we know God by spiritual illumination/revelation not by human understanding! He said, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Yeshua (Jesus) said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven! (The Gospel according to Matthew 16:15-17 TLV) The counseling I do is a funded by donation based on what clients give and not on any fee charged or required.
