Sitting here thinking about a conversation I had with my Dad yesterday. There is an attempt to fictionalize Christianity. To reduce the Gospel, the Cross, into language the old church was fixated on but no true relevance to this culture. To minimize/water down the truth, the literal truth, of scripture into a book of advice and stories like Aesops Fables. To make the preaching moment more of a therapeutic moment. To exalt man into celebrity status and devalue Jesus to a polarizing figure that was a gifted public speaker only. To reshape the church to more of a community center of lots of stuff to do than a hospital for the sick and a place for spiritual growth and discipleship. Maybe the trends are misleading. Maybe the books on church growth, and how to attract people are a covert attempt to render the church, people powerless. Maybe the movies are a subtle attempt of desensitization to that which is true and right. Maybe our addiction/preoccupation to television , music, and other things are the subtle tool of the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2). My random tboughts. 2015 is a collision course year.
