Life is getting back to summer normal. I am canning green beans today, and will finish mowing the yard this afternoon. Mike is feeling more like himself today after a bad scare when his blood pressure went out of control. He has had a week and a half of wildly fluctuating bp, after going without meds for 5 days. It is now down in the fair range and hopefully will get back to normal after seeing a different doctor and getting his dosage increased. Why did he go without meds for 5 days? His doctor of several years would not see him this year at the time for his yearly exam. They put him off saying the doctor was booked through September. He explained that he had to have his prescriptions renewed and could not do that without getting his blood work done and having it okayed by the doctor. They finally told him to come and they would do the labs. He did, but then they did not call in his prescriptions and would not respond to his phone calls. Instead of going in and making demands before his meds ran out, he waited for 5 days and became very ill. I wasnt home at the time, but he drove himself to the doctors office and went in and demanded they call in his prescriptions, which they did, without talking to him about his blood work, or even checking his bp. When I arrived home he was on the couch and told me what had happened. I went to Walmart and bought a bp monitor and we took his pressure. It was still rather high. We took it again before bedtime and it had gone down considerably. It continued to fluctuate, and got dangerously high on Sunday and he went in and spent several hours in the ER on a monitor, after which they sent him home and told him to see another doctor. Thats the saga up to now. I do not understand medical professionals being responsible for this kind of neglect. Maybe they are trying to trim down the doctors patient load, by ignoring some of the patients, hoping they will quietly find another doctor? It is a mystery to me, but if any of you see Dr. Vaughan, be sure you stay on top of things. If you like him and this is offensive to you, I am sorry, but we need an explanation from him, and his staff for the total disregard for Mikes condition, and their complete negligence in this case.
