Life sure looks different after you have a massive heart attack at 52. 2 of my 3 main arteries in my heart were 99 and 100% blocked and I had no clue until last Saturday, June 28th. (Still trying to wrap my brain around how that possibly happened to 120lb me.) I was having a great day by my pool with my 3 beautiful grandchildren. Ive had 3 children of my own and have eaten more Mexican food than I care to share and have NEVER once had heart burn in my life. After several hours of ingesting more TUMS than I thought humanly possible, I started listening to my body and got everyone out of the pool. Thank you God!!!!! The babies are 6, 21/2, & 7mos. Without some grand intervention there could have been 4 fatalities last Saturday. Again, thank you God!!!!! I need to thank my 19 yr old son Ryan, for listening to his mom.....finally....(; and deciding not to go to the gym and calling 911. Thank you to the Folsom Fire Dept. (Oak Ave Station) for getting here in less than 4 minutes and getting me to Kaiser RSVLs ER so fast. (It may not have seemed fast at the time but it truly was.) Thank you to Molly Poole, my sons wonderful gf who happened to get off work early & just showed up. She kept all the babies away so they didnt see Gigi leave in an ambulance or even know their were 8 fireman in their house. She also stayed with them till 3am so my sons could be at the hospital with me. Thank you to the ER staff for bringing me back to life after I coded and died for 20 secs 8 minutes after my arrival. Thank you to the RN that yelled, Boy do we love electricity around here Pattie!!!!! (Me too guys!!! Feel free to use it on me anytime!) Thank you to the Cardiac Cath Lab for getting the stint in my heart so fast, the ICU staff that cared for me for 3 days following, and the staff on 2N that cared for me 2 more days. Thank you to my son Nick and again to my baby Ryan who got there so fast and stayed in the ICU with me till almost morning. Thank you to my mom and dad who dropped everything, drove and flew at lightning speed from Shasta and Orange County to get to their daughter. Thank you to my dear dear dear friends who are truly my family. Laurie Ottley( my daughter Alexs godmother) & my get down to it best gal pal who came in and asked all the right questions I was too tired to understand yet. I watched her (as it was easier) while she watched intently as the nurse drew diagrams of the blockages to help explain the issue so she (Laurie) could help me understand later. JQ and Larry Kelley, my 2nd parents since high school who came in and asked questions and made me feel safe& loved. Mimi (Michelle) Kelley-Huron, my best friend for 35 yrs(and my son Nicks godmother), her children Mariah and Alex (who painstakingly sat in my ICU room while their mom was by my side.); Poor babies.) The whole Kelley and Kelley-Huron families including Mimis husband Billy, Mimis niece Brittany Kelley, Riah and Alex Kelley-Huron, ALL who endured long days and even longer sleepless nights while they all kept my 3 grandchildren safe and happy all week long 24/7. I love you guys!!! Teryn Kelley, Mimis sister in law and my dear friend who sat with me (and cried with me) and got in touch with my other best friend, Donna Levitre-Rose (My son Ryans godmother) who Ive missed so much and who sat with me after she worked a double shift in the NICU. My ex sister-in-law (yup)and dear friend and family Barb Mooney who sat with me for hours after her shifts on Telemetry ended. Thanks for the laughs. Linda Book-Johnston, my friend of 38 yrs who always always makes me feel like not a minute has passed since we were laughing and carrying on in highschool. No words can express. (Lori Puleo-Gandelman for getting the word out to her and knowing that she would want to know.) Lindas sweet daughter Rebecca who has offered her babysitting services more times than I can count (she has 3 of her on.....oh well that would only be 6 kids for a bit. YIKES) Lastly to everybody I know and love that have said prayers and been there for me and anyone I may have forgotten. I know there are a few and Im sorry. Remember everyone how great life is and when the people you love want to get together......DO IT and LOVE IT!!! When your kids, grandkids and people you love hug you, hold on tight. I know I will. Lifes good.
