Local citizens concerned with the current status of fish population in Elephant Butte Lake have come together to seek a viable solution with New Mexico Department of Game & Fish that will benefit both the local economy and the Lakes future as a prime angler location. Thus far the committee formed has accepted an anonymous donation of a significant figure, which will help secure the first - of what committee members are aiming for multiple - stocking. The committee, which met Wed Jan 14, has established an account to collect funds from within and outside the community: Elephant Butte Lake Fish Fund P. O. box 981 Elephant Butte, NM 87935 Further questions can be directed to email address: EB.Lakefishfund@gmail The committee is expecting to meet with the NMDGF Monday Feb 23 at 6 p.m. at the Elephant Butte Inn. This meeting is open to the public, with all invited to aid in exploring solutions for the fish population and environment at EB Lake.
