Lolos Nirvana --- Prompt, Apr. 4, 2014 ... ... ... Inspired by Dennis Malinaos quest: Looking for the The Summer Place --- A movie with the same theme song. THE SUMMER PLACE Haunted once in a while by the long lost youth of summer, carefree of doubts, fears, apathy of mature responses and obligations, chose instead to be with friends with come-what-may in mind, was a welcome memory of summer. The small fishing village looked dimly pretty in half-moon for there was no light other than what nature had stored for young lovers of songs --- echoing in the village till wee hours in the morning, serenading. The much awaited full moon brightened the village beach among other things --- showing the friendliness of the Bay and allowing the waves to kiss the waiting white-sandy shores; whispering soft and tender sounds of approval for young lovers to sit upon the sand writing lovers promises. The beautiful silhouette of varying sizes of the four islands yonder across the Bay, gave a chance for Romeo to metaphor the beautiful silhouette of his everlasting love for Juliet. But for some of us, those written promises vanished with the waves, but not forgotten. Summer, as in the rest of the seasons --- spring, autumn and winter --- come and go. and each time, different experiences and memories would be left behind haunting us once in a while. One should feel good to remember. We dont have to look for The Summer Place, they exists in our hearts, mind and soul --- like the Camelot of King Arthur, Genevieve and Sir Lancelot. About Camelot: One group of scholars says it is the name of King Arthur Castle. Another group says it is actually some places in England with different names. I have to accept what the third group says: An imaginary place to depict the love story of the three people I mentioned earlier, for it too resembles my own Camelot. My Camelot of summer happened in many places --- my fishing village, hometown, the city where I spent four years in high school and the city located in the beautiful island of Mindanao doing land surveying works. King Authors Camelot of summer happened in peoples heart: They say that it only snows when the want it; The spring flowers do not disappear in winter; The rain only falls when their garden needs watering; The moon shines in full all year round. I wish my fishing village were King Arthurs Camelot of summer!
