Long time R/C racer and friend James Jim Howard Sherman Dec. 28, 1954 - January 16, 2014 James Howard Jim Sherman of Redmond, Oregon, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2014, at his home with his wife by his side, after a hard fought battle with stomach cancer. He was 59. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at Redmond Memorial Chapel, located at 717 SW 6th St. in Redmond, OR. Jim was born December 28, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to William and Betty (Burt) Sherman. He, along with his family moved to Freemont, California, where Jim spent most of his childhood. In 1974, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Jim spent most of his professional career working in the heavy machinery industry. He worked at Hyster Sales for seven years as a Shop Foreman, before accepting the product support manager position at Pape Machinery, where he worked for 22 years. He made many friends and considered his co-workers as his extended family. Many of them have been by Jims side through his fight with cancer and supported the family through this difficult time. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Sherman of Redmond, OR; daughters, Heather Sherman-Palmer, Melissa Sherman, Samantha Roberts and Tabbitha Roberts. Other survivors include his sister, Barbara Sherman Johnson; his aunt. Elaine Abraham and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
