Luke 22:31-32, “And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” The miracle Peter received actually commanded his faith, humility and self-denial. First he thought himself unworthy of Christ’s presence, let alone being so honoured. When we humble ourselves for Christ’s sake, He would exalt us in His own time and season. Jesus would not have had anything to do with Peter had Peter not been made sensible by the vicissitudes of life. He was so tired and sick of the world that he was ready to embrace the superior order of Christ. In Christ’s new order, there is peace, not as the world gives. Jesus knew that the troubles in this world could rob his followers of peace and thus cause their faith to fail. So, He specifically supported Peter with prayer. Certainly he would fall but with Jesus supporting his position, he was soon to overcome and bounce back in his faith. Time healed all the injuries his faith had suffered under pressure. PRAYER: By faith, hear Jesus saying unto you in the midst of your trial, “I pray your faith will not fail”, in Jesus Christ’s name.
