MEN OF VISION! Personal experience with Elder Milton R Hunter The first experience I had with Elder Hunter was at Deseret Book when he came in as an author to sign his book on the Golden Plates. He came in and enthusiastically shook the hands of every employee! He made sure that he didn’t miss one as he even went to the basement to shake the hands with the shipping crew! What a wonderful experience with a man with fire! The second experience was as I was serving as a councilor in the Elders Quorum Presidency. It was Stake Conference and we were at the Priesthood Leadership Training Meeting. Elder Hunter invited the Stake President to stand by his side in front of the Leaders of the Stake. He asked the President about the staffing of the Stake and as he went down the list of leaders needed we found that the Stake was understaffed. He then started his training. I want all present to pay attention when he asked the President why the organization was not organized. The answer came because we don’t have that many Melchizedek Priesthood holders in the Stake. Elder Hunter then with his arm around the shoulder of the President taught and asked all present to listen carefully. He continued to say that Aaronic Priesthood holders could be made Elders, both could be made Seventies, and all those could be made High Priests. Have the members stretch! Now he said I will be back in six months and I expect the Stake to have all the organization staffed! In six months the Stake President was called with his wife to serve a mission!
