MINNEAPOLIS MN PERMIT HOLDER CLAIMING SELF DEFENSE RELEASED WITHOUT CHARGES FOLLOWING NORTH MPLS SHOOTING MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 21-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering an Edina teen in north Minneapolis this past weekend has been released. Authorities believe he was acting in self-defense when he fatally shot 18-year-old Earl Malone Saturday night at the intersection of Knox Avenue North and 26th Street. Police took the 21-year-old man into custody at the scene. Sources tell WCCO the man has a conceal-and-carry permit, and told police he shot Malone because he had tried to rob him. Source: WCCO The permit holder said Malone was armed and trying to carjack him. According to police documents, PTC holder fired 3 shots, not knowing if any connected, Malone fled. PTC holder immediately called 911, when squads arrived they found Malone dead between two houses with his gun still clutched in his hand.
