MOOSE OF THE DAY : LIVERPOOL Vs DORTMUND Im watching this delayed, its 7pm now and Ive avoided the result 70 Minutes gone its 4-0 and Im compelled to write. Taking Into Consideration Dortmunds impending German SuperCup Game this coming week and their side on the day, this is a good old fashioned drubbing. Sharper, Faster, Fitter, Stronger and all round Better that the German Bundesliga Runners-Up The Reds have bossed this from the opening whistle. From the back Manquillo looks a class act for such a young man on his debut, Lovren untroubled but scored looks like a stronger Agger to to me Yes, hes got the moves Like Agger, good on the ball, very commanding vocally from what I could see Mignolet to this point was untroubled but his distribution was spot on when needed. Johnson was.. well a more subdued version of himself and played OK Skrtel looked different, he looked confident and imposing and unusually calm I felt. Gerrard, I thought was great, all of they passing attributes we expect and his range is already found with some wonderful searching passes and his one touch interplay with his midfield partners was very impressive. I think Im going to love Emre Can, strong, solid and very comfortable on the ball. Then, wait for it, wait for it theres Hendo, My God ive slated this kid but now I cannot imagine a midfield without him, so good on and off the ball his work rate is phenomenal and hes showing great intelligence now. He looks every inch a Liverpool player Then the Front 3 - Sturridge to me has always looked like a real world class forward, a sniper in the box, quick feet and a very bright mind, if he stays fit I think his elevation to leading man status is going to be a very smooth transition. Finally the jewels, if you want to see the Suarez legacy then just watch the play of Coutinho & Sterling, who I think are about to trend worldwide as absolute superstars. Their interplay & movement and tricks all had hints and reminiscent glances of Luiss best moves, the daring to try things not only in the final third but on the touchline and in the box show an inbuilt inner strength and confidence that can only serve us well. I loved the work rate, the formation, the substitutions showed the depth of the squad and with more acquisitions to follow (Im betting on at least 3 more in and a few out) I can honestly say Im far more impressed than I thought Id be Dortmund hadnt lost pre season before rocking up to Anfield and were swept aside, not in the cavalier style of last season but in a very dynamic but solid and organised professional manner. The watching Ronald Koeman in the crowd must have been bricking it.. So, next week WE GO AGAIN... & I think we are going to be just fine.
