MOSES WAS NOT ALLOWED TO GET TO THE PROMISED LAND! Sunday Sermon: 02-02-2014! Prepared by Pastor Charles Chanda; Pretoria, South Africa Deuteronomy 34:4 And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither. The whole world is indebted to the ministry of this man and yet God could not allow him to get to the promised land. This man gave his whole life to lead the children of Israel and in the end he could not get there. What a great lesson for all of us today. God will never change nor compromise his standard no matter who is involved. If the children of Israel were to vote who must get to the Promised Land, it is obvious Moses would be top of the list. This was not the case with God. Do not be carried away with your popularity not the respect that people as this can be very deceptive. You can miss the heavenly Jerusalem just for one thing that displeases the Lord. Your position in heaven is not guaranteed till you open your eyes on the streets of God. May the Lord help you and me not to miss heaven in Jesus Name. 1. HIS CALL WAS NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE HIM GET THERE! Exodus 3:3-5 3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. This man was known by God by his name. He could speak with God and yet this was not enough to make him get to the promised land, a land filled with good things. It does not matter how supernatural your call may be, there is more you and me need to do to make it to heaven. 2. HIS DEDICATION, CONSECRATION AND LOYALTY TO GOD FAILED TO MAKE HIM GET A VISA INTO THE PROMISED LAND! Hebrews 11:24-26 24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaohs daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward You and I may be wondering what really we must do to get to the promised land because none can get nearer to what Moses did and yet he was refused entry into the promised land. 3. HIS TITLE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT EITHER! Deuteronomy 33:1 And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death. My friend it’s not all the titles that are before your name that matter but the state of your heart before your last breath on earth. 4. HIS LEVEL OF EDUCATION COULD NOT BE CONSIDERED! Acts 7:22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds. Your highest level in education will not be taken into consideration. Yes you may spend all your time here on earth learning and yet there is no record in heaven. Do you know just how many professors are in hell? 5. NOT EVEN HIS POLITICAL CAREER COULD SUFFICE! Exodus 18:13-18 13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening. 14 And when Moses father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? 15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: 16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. 17 And Moses father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. 18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. If you like call him President Moses and yet this was not enough to cause him to have passage into the promised land. Consider how politicians suffer and the many years of imprisonment and yet this is not one of the qualifications to getting to heaven. WHAT WRONG DID MOSES DO SUCH THAT GOD COULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE PROMISED LAND? Deuteronomy 3:26-28 26 But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter. 27 Get thee up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan. 28 But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see. *The LORD instructed him to strike the rock once and speak to it so that they could have water! Numbers 20:7-9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. 9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. *Moses did not follow the commandment the LORD gave him! Numbers 20:10-11 10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? 11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. *God was displeased and pronounced judgment on Moses and Aaron! Numbers 20:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. WHO WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER HEAVEN? Psalm 15:1-5 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. 4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. 5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved. Revelation 21:1-8 King James Version (KJV) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. 1. Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, From Thy wounded side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure, Save from wrath and make me pure. 2. Not the labor of my hands Can fulfill Thy law’s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone. 3. Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to Thy cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress; Helpless, look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly; Wash me, Savior, or I die. 4. While I draw this fleeting breath, When my eyes shall close in death, When I rise to worlds unknown, And behold Thee on Thy throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee. Today is the day of your salvation. You may never have an opportunity to listen to such teachings again and so why don’t you give your life to Christ today. If you decide to make this decision for Christ after this message, I want to know you so that I can be praying for you. Just type “Jesus you are Lord and I give my life to you” WE WILL MEET IN HEAVEN IF YOU DO GET THERE!!!!!!!!!
