MR. BROWN, THE GAS STATION MAN by Gene Minix He spent his whole life At the little station downtown. He always made your day brighter When you came around. He pumped your gasoline And he checked the oil. Made sure the radiator was full So it would not boil. He checked each tire, Washed the windshield, too. Mr. Brown the gas station man Always took care of you. Hed wipe his hands Of the grease and grime And share a soda with you. He always took the time To talk with you about family And things in town. He knew everybody And everybody knew Mr. Brown. Hes been gone now for sometime And today theyre tearing the old station down. Another landmark of yesterday gone But the kind memories still abound. Things are a lot different today. Not many stations like his around. But I tell you the country could use Some friendly men like Mr. Brown. © Copyright 2013, by Gene Minix. All rights reserved.
