MY SOCIAL LIFE Basically, I dont have a social life, but I do go out.. . . . Last night, we decided to head out for dinner and to see Richard and his small team at Coast, in Kakanui. Made a couple of attempts over the past six months, but each time, the place has been chocka — business has come a long way since he fled from ChCh after the earthquakes. But last night there was room.I had rung before we left and when we arrived Eva had set a table for us with what would have been the best view in the house — in the summer! But it was dark, so we saw nothing. Roll on summer! A nicely chilled Harringtons Rogue Hop first, then the Navigator and I shared a bottle of Clyde Pinot Noir from Central Otago. I had the Tempura battered Blue Cod with chips and coleslaw, the Navigator had green curry. My meal was superb — the blue cod in the light tempura was definitely among the best I have ever eaten. Richard had a reputation for the best fish meals in Christchurch and it was deserved. I have a confession — thats what I always have at Coast, I am a creature of habit! The Navigator found her green curry equally delicious. We finished off with a caramel icecream sundae for me and a Whitestone Smoked cheeseboard for her.
