Mahesh Bhatt supports Modis call for rehabilitating Kashmiri pandits: 05/07/2014 Film director and producer Mahesh Bhatt on Friday said he supported Prime Minister Narendra Modis announcement of rehabilitating Kashmiri pundits. Bhatt, who has been a vocal critic of Modi, also praised him for extending olive branch to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. I believe that Kashmiri pundits, who were ostracized, should be able to go back to their land. Modi has my full support on the issue. Its brave of him to talk about their rehabilitation . And, it is the duty of Muslims in Kashmir to ensure their security and safety , Bhatt told TOI. He was in town to watch the play adapted from his movie ?Arth. On Indo-Pak ties, he said., I was delighted when Modi invited Sharif for the swearing-in. I was happy that as PM, Modi showed that he can sit across the table and work on solutions. It was courageous of him as the core constituency he caters to is very much anti-Pakistan, Bhatt added. He, however, said that Modi would have to prove that he believes in inclusive growth. If he follows Constitution in letter and spirit, my support goes to him but if he doesnt then I will stand against him. I will be won by actions and not words. As a citizen of India, I have the right to have my own views and criticize Modi., Bhatt said. Bhatt also dismissed criticism of Modi government on price rise in the last one month. No political leader has the magic wand to solve problems overnight. I dont think it is right to criticize him so soon. He is being badgered by some career politicians and I am not going to join them, he said. He, however, added that he is not an admirer of Modi. Movies like Fanaa, Parzania and Tum Miley were not allowed to be released in Gujarat. My rights were violated when my movie was not released here. Is this the Gujarat model they talk about? he said.
