Manhattan, NY - A volunteer writes: Little Sussy was found as a stray. She is a pretty young Chihuahua dressed in a lovely chocolate robe enhanced with cinnamon markings. She reminds me of a delicate deer. Sussy was recently a mom and lactating still when she arrived at the care center. She has made only little progresses as far as her relationship with us. She is very scared and will try persistently to nip if we attempt to leash her and take her out. I let Sussy, leash free, roam in a large pen. She headed right away for the bench, not up...but under, for cover. She stuck out her head to eat roastbeef, not from my hands , except once. Maybe she forgot she should be scared... I petted her briefly but her response was a quick escape... Getting her back on the leash was not less than a rodeo show. I was out of breath but Sussy was fasten to the rope and ready to go for a little tour around the yard where she met few other dogs,surprisingly without showing any fear...I forgot to say that Sussy eliminated during our time together. Sussy needs work but not in a shelter environment. A home sweet home, a loving master is the recipe for a happy Sussy. Will you give her a chance? Will you open your heart to this little girl?
