Manna Blog Day 223: Orange Peel You know how some people peel - TopicsExpress

Manna Blog Day 223: Orange Peel You know how some people peel an orange or an apple and take forever, carefully trying to get the peel off in one long piece? This is what I see today. It gives them a sense of satisfaction. I’ve never been able to do that and always just get at the fruit however I can. It’s the same with wrapping paper. Some people are slow and careful and others rip it off in seconds. It doesn’t really matter because the end result is the same, the precious content is revealed and the wrap or peel goes in the rubbish bin. The point is, there are different ways of discovering treasure, including the worth of scripture. It is not so important how we find it, so long as we get there in the end, and it does matter that the way you lift the lid on God’s word is the way that helps you. So although we all hopefully find ourselves going deeper and deeper in our prayer lives and in our relationship with the Word of God, we must use the method that takes us to the treasure in the way that works best for us where we are right now. It maybe that you relate to God best through short quiet times or through Bible study groups, through booklets or blogs, or you might find long times of deep silence and using spiritual traditions like Lectio Divina more rewarding. You might find you hear God more clearly in the car on the way to work listening to music than you do sitting in protracted, distracted silence at home. Do what leads you to the treasure for who and where you are. ©K Dibbens-Wyatt 2013
