Many of you have asked about Gregs history. This sums it up. This was emailed to our camp association: Dear Friends, It is with a heavy heart that we share Greg Schneiders passing. Greg was born January 15, 1938 and left us on November 29, 2013 after a life well-lived with direction and purpose: to enrich the lives of children – and everyone with whom he came in contact. After more than 50 years in the childrens camp industry, Greg will be best remembered as a kind, generous, and good man; a model of class and integrity; a man of character and tenacity who never lost sight of the ultimate goal: to enrich the lives of children. His vision of Activity with Direction and Fun with Purpose lives on in the campers who are now doctors, lawyers, teachers, pilots, engineers, architects, camp directors, and countless other professions. Greg served as (owner) director for a number of camp programs throughout his career including Westchester Swim School, Westrey Day Camp, Tocaloma Day Camp and Catalina Island Camps. He finished his career as founding director of Peninsula Bay Cities Day Camp and Swim School (PBC), who will celebrate their 20th summer next year. Greg was an influential leader and volunteer for the American Camp Association. In 2010, he was elected as a founding member of ACA, Southern CA/HIs Legacy Circle, the most prestigious award given in the region. Greg is survived by his brother, Carlos Schneider, and sister, Gretchen Schneider, and by thousands around the world who are better people for having known him. A memorial service and mass will be held in Gregs honor at Calvary Cemetery on December 14, 2013 at 10:30am. Calvary Cemetery 4201 Whittier Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90023 Best Wishes, Michele Branconier, Executive Director ACA, Southern CA/HI
