Many of you have asked about the arrangements for my mother so I am posting them to prevent me from forgetting to respond to someone. Thank you for all of the sweet calls, messages and cards that have been received. Your prayers have definitely been felt! Matkins, Ann Kay - Passed with peace and grace on January 4, 2015 at Heritage Nursing Home in Florence, SC. She was predeceased by her parents, James Kershaw Doc Young and Lillie Edwards Young as well as her sister, Sandra Moore. She is survived by her son, John (Erin) Matkins of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; daughter, Sandra Matkins Sturkie of Florence; brother, Reverend Steve (Frances) Young; and grandchildren, Hadley, Kershaw, Ava and Sam. Additionally she has six nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Kay was born in Darlington, SC and attended Faith Baptist Church which she was a founding member of. She worked most of her life as an office manager at Lowes Incorporated with her second family. Kay loved the Lord; loved teaching Sunday School; being a member of the Womens Missionary Union and cheering her grandchildren on at their sporting events. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 9, 2015 at Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Darlington Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the funeral Home.
