Many people tend to be all or nothing in nature. They either - TopicsExpress

Many people tend to be all or nothing in nature. They either workout 6-7 days a week or not at all, they either eat absolutely insanely healthy, or total crap. Wheres the middle ground? Where is the realistic sustainable lifestyle that is needed for people to lose the weight and KEEP IT OFF? If someone told me I could never eat a cheeseburger or pizza ever again Id cut them! haha But I am also smart enough to know that with body types like mine (extreme endomorph, very insulin resistant), we cant eat that stuff every day, or even several times a week. Contrary to the all or nothing thought process but wouldnt 3-4 days in the gym be better than the 0 that you may be putting in now? Wouldnt 5-6 days of healthier eating and then a day where you let loose and cheat a little (I said a little, not a binge) be better than eating garbage 7 days a week but not as imprisoning as the mindset of eating nothing but healthy for the rest of your life? There IS a happy medium area that will allow you to start losing the weight but not make you feel like you are a slave, living a unlivable life. You just have to take the first step and want it bad enough. I get SOOOO many messages and emails from people telling me their story. Theyve tried every diet in the book, theyve removed entire groups of nutrition, or done insane amounts of cardio, etc. but the reality is most of these tactics will do more harm than good. If youre chasing your goals using an unrealistic approach, then even if you do meet your goals, where does it go from there? You have built no new lifestyle habits because what youre doing is unsustainable so when you eventually stop you have nothing new to fall back on but old habits, old ways of living, the same ways that created your before photo. THAT in my opinion is the root of the weight gain/loss roller coaster. I realize this post doesnt apply to some of you, but many of you who have written me, I know this hits home in a major way. We all have to start somewhere and it doesnt always have to be balls to the wall. Gettin deep for a Thursday! :)
